JUNIOR EAST v WEST WALES GAME

Whilst our team played away the Indoor Centre played host to the Hilary King Mixed Junior Challenge Sheild. 54 youngsters from all over Wales took part in the East vs West Wales Competition.

An exciting match ensued with 4 of our juniors included in the East Wales line up, namely Luke Hammond, Gareth Lloyd, Jess Williams (East Wales Captain) and Sarah Woodward. Also taking part was reigning Junior Singles Champion, Jarred Breen, who captained West Wales. East Wales were keen to hold onto the trophy that was first vied for last year and won by them. They were not disappointed. East Wales took an early lead and although West Wales kept up with them, it proved to be another win for East Wales. Many thanks to all the family and friends who supported the Juniors and congratulations to all those taking part.

JUNIOR TEAM OFF TO A FLYING START

Radnorshire junior bowlers began their new season with a home win against 16 juniors from Cynon Valley by 59 shots to 41.

Cynon Valley started like they were the home team racing into a 3 - 10 lead. Radnor refused to panic and chipped away until they levelled at 23 shots all. From then on the result was never in doubt as the home team picked up shots on a regular basis. All rinks played tight bowls Gareth Lloyd's rink played well to keep the deficit to 5 shots, captain Luke Hammond came back from 1 - 7 down to win 16 - 12, the rink skipped by Stephen Jones won by a margin of 15 shots and Karl Harris's rink, after a dodgy start came back to win 13 - 9. With a number of new young players in the team the result is a satisfactory start to the new season.
